Couldn't load pickup availability
The Planika Oni Flogs is a suspended bioethanol fireplace that hangs from the ceiling in open space - no wall, no hearth, no chimney required for the fire itself. Inside is Planika's automatic FLA4 FLOGS 990 burner with a stack of decorative ceramic logs: the look of a log fire, floating in the middle of the room.
Two variants handle the warm air differently. The Flue Connection vents it outdoors through a flue pipe - the flame as the centrepiece, the heat managed elsewhere. The In-room Vent distributes the full 6.9 kW into the room as working heat. Same fireplace, same burner, same burn time.
BEV Technology burns ethanol vapour rather than liquid fuel, so there's no smoke, odour or ash. A microprocessor and sensors monitor operation continuously, with automatic shut-off and a child lock as standard. Six flame levels are controlled from the touch panel, remote control or PLANIKA BEV app, and the 5.5-litre tank burns for up to 8 hours. Refuelling is fully automatic - a sealed pump circuit, no pouring, no spills.
Indoor use only, minimum room volume 69 m3. At 144-145 kg the Oni needs a load-bearing ceiling and professional installation. Overall height adjusts to the room: 2,005-3,005mm (Flue Connection) or 2,460-3,405mm (In-room Vent).

The suspended Bioethanol Fireplace
The Oni hangs from the ceiling, suspended in open space, and puts the fire where the room actually happens - around it, not in front of it.
Inside, Planika's automatic FLA4 FLOGS 990 burner sits beneath a stack of ceramic logs. You get the look of a log fire with none of the wood, smoke or sweeping - and because it runs on bioethanol, no chimney is needed for the fire itself.
The only decision is what happens to the warm air. Two variants handle it differently, and they're covered below.
BEV® TECHNOLOGY
Burns vapour, not liquid
The FLA4 burner inside the Oni runs on BEV Technology. The flame is created by burning ethanol vapours - the fire never comes into contact with the liquid fuel, so combustion is free of smoke, odour and ash. A Net Zero fireplace, hanging in your room.
Every moment of operation is monitored by a microprocessor and sensors that detect any irregularity and respond immediately, with automatic shut-off and a child lock as standard.
Control your fire
-
Touch LCD panel
Adjust settings, check fuel levels or set a shut-off timer on the built-in LCD touch panel.
-
Remote control
You are in charge of the flames — choose from 6 flame levels to set the ambience, all from the handy remote.
-
PLANIKA BEV app
Control the fire with your smartphone — adjust flame settings and ambiance remotely (Google Play and App Store).
-
Smart Home
Optional Smart Home System (SHS) integration connects the fireplace to your wider home automation.
AUTOMATIC REFILLING
Never touch the fuel
The Oni's automated refilling system manages the entire flow cycle: filling the tank, continuous fuel-level monitoring, and fuel recovery after the burner is switched off.
A portable pump connects to the control panel while the hose tip sits inside the fuel bottle, creating a sealed, safe circuit. No overfilling. No spills.

Frequently asked questions
about the Planika Oni Bioethanol Fireplace
What is the Planika Oni Flogs?
A suspended bioethanol fireplace. The Oni hangs from the ceiling in open space rather than sitting in a wall or hearth, with Planika's automatic FLA4 FLOGS 990 burner and a stack of decorative ceramic logs inside. It's available in two variants - Flue Connection and In-room Vent - which differ only in how they handle warm air.
What is the difference between the Flue Connection and In-room Vent?
Where the warmth goes. The Flue Connection vents warm air outdoors through a flue pipe - you get the flame as a centrepiece with reduced heat into the room. The In-room Vent distributes the warm air indoors, so the full 6.9 kW works as room heat. Same fireplace, same burner, same burn time.
Does the Oni need a chimney?
No - not for the fire. Bioethanol burns cleanly, producing only water vapour and a small amount of CO2, so no chimney or flue is required for combustion. The flue pipe on the Flue Connection variant is for venting warm air outdoors, not smoke.
How is the Oni installed?
It hangs from the ceiling, and at 144-145 kg it is a structural installation, not a DIY job. The ceiling must be load-bearing and the fixings rated for the weight. We'd recommend a professional installer - talk to us if you need one.
What ceiling height do I need for the Oni?
The Oni adjusts to your ceiling. The Flue Connection installs at an overall height of 2,005-3,005mm, the In-room Vent at 2,460-3,405mm - the pipe length sets the drop. Your ceiling needs to suit the lowest overall figure for your variant, plus the clearances in the Oni installation manual. The suspended body itself is 1,100mm in diameter and 1,000mm tall, so check the dimensional drawing before you commit to a position.
How much heat does the Oni produce?
Up to 6.9 kW (23,202 BTU/h). On the In-room Vent variant, that heat goes into the room. On the Flue Connection variant, most of the warm air is vented outdoors - the flame is the point, the heat is managed elsewhere.
How long does the Oni burn on one fill?
Up to 8 hours from its 5.5-litre tank. The automatic refilling system handles refuelling - a portable pump connects to the control panel and draws from the fuel bottle in a sealed circuit, so you never pour fuel near the fire.
How do you control the Oni?
Three ways: the touch control panel on the unit, the included remote control, or the PLANIKA BEV app. All three give you six flame height levels, fuel level readings and a shut-off timer. Smart Home System integration is optional.
Is a hanging bioethanol fireplace safe?
Yes, with the right installation. The burner monitors itself continuously through a microprocessor and sensors, with automatic shut-off if anything irregular is detected, plus a child lock on the panel. The fire burns vapour, never liquid fuel, and produces no smoke or ash. Minimum room volume is 69 m3, with an air change rate of one space volume per hour. The 144-145 kg unit must be fixed to a load-bearing ceiling by a professional.
What fuel does the Oni use?
Bioethanol at 95-96.6% purity - an alcohol-based fuel derived from organic sources. Use pharmaceutical-grade bioethanol free from fragrances and gel additives for clean, odourless combustion.

Which one is right for you?
