Planika Logs Box 1000 Single Sided flue connection FLA4 Logs 990
The Planika Logs Box 1000 Single Sided flue connection with FLA4 Logs 990 is a bioethanol fireplace designed for installations where building regulations require external venting or where the installer prefers combustion products routed outside. This unit combines the wider 1000mm format with a flue connection hood featuring a built-in damper that stops cold air entering when the fireplace is not in use.
Unlike traditional flued fireplaces, this bioethanol fireplace still utilises clean-burning BEV Technology - producing no smoke, no odor, and no ash under normal operation. The flue connection provides additional venting capacity for regulatory compliance rather than addressing smoke production. The integrated FLA4 Flogs 990 burner features decorative ceramic logs for authentic log fire aesthetics.
Key Features
The built-in damper is a standout feature of this bioethanol fireplace. When the unit is not in use, the damper physically stops cold air from entering the room from outside - solving a common problem with chimney-connected appliances and improving building airtightness and energy efficiency.
Despite the flue connection, the zero-clearance firebox maintains its insulating properties. You can still install this bioethanol fireplace within combustible structures and near televisions - flexibility impossible with traditional gas or wood-burning flued fireplaces.
The 5.5-litre fuel tank provides up to 8 hours of burn time with 6.9 kW heat output. Full control is provided via LCD touch panel, handy remote, and Planika BEV mobile app. The automatic refilling system ensures precise fuel delivery without spillage.
Flue Connection Benefits
Choose this configuration when local building regulations mandate external venting, when energy efficiency and airtightness are priorities, or when your installer prefers the additional safety margin of external combustion product venting. The flue-optimised construction is actually lighter than the standard model - 65.9kg vs 70.9kg for the Single Sided configuration.
This bioethanol fireplace is for indoor use only with natural ventilation of one air change per hour and a minimum room volume of 69 cubic metres. Professional installation is essential to ensure correct flue routing and damper operation.

Key Features about the Planika Log Box
Zero-Clearance Firebox for Flexible Installation
The zero-clearance enclosure effectively insulates high temperatures, allowing safe installation within combustible structures. You can integrate this bioethanol fireplace directly into timber-framed walls or install a television in close proximity without heat damage concerns
BEV Technology — Clean Burning Without Compromise
Planika's patented Burning Ethanol Vapors technology heats bioethanol fuel to create vapor, which is ignited above the fuel surface. This ensures no direct contact between flame and liquid fuel, producing no smoke, no odor, and no ash — just a beautiful, clean flame.
Realistic Ceramic Log Fire Aesthetics
The FLA4 FLOGS burner features decorative ceramic logs positioned within high, dynamic flames. The result is an authentic traditional fireplace appearance that brings warmth and character to contemporary interiors without requiring a chimney.

Planika Logs Box Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about the Planika Box Logs
Do I need a chimney or flue for this bioethanol fireplace?
No. The standard configuration requires no chimney, flue, or external venting. It operates using clean-burning bioethanol fuel with natural room ventilation of just one air change per hour. This makes it ideal for apartments, modern homes, and any space where chimney construction is not possible.
What is BEV Technology and why does it matter?
BEV stands for Burning Ethanol Vapors — Planika's patented technology that heats bioethanol to create vapor before ignition. Because the flame burns vapor rather than liquid fuel, there is no direct contact between flame and liquid, resulting in complete combustion with no smoke, no odor, and no ash. This is fundamentally different from traditional bioethanol burners and significantly safer.
Can I install this fireplace beneath a TV?
Yes. The zero-clearance firebox is specifically designed to insulate surrounding materials from heat. This allows safe installation in close proximity to televisions, artwork, and combustible wall materials — something impossible with traditional fireplaces or gas inserts.
What are the room requirements for safe operation?
The minimum room volume is 69 cubic metres (2,437 cubic feet) with natural air exchange of at least one space volume per hour. No mechanical ventilation in negative pressure should be used. The fireplace is for indoor use only with a minimum operating temperature of 10°C.
How long does the fuel last and what does it cost to run?
Burn time depends on the burner model. The FLA4 standard burner provides up to 8 hours (1000 series) or 7 hours (800 series) on a single fill. The extended-capacity FLA4+ burner delivers up to 27 hours (1000 series) or 21 hours (800 series). Fuel consumption varies by flame level setting. Bioethanol fuel costs approximately £3-5 per litre depending on supplier and quantity.
What configuration options are available?
The Logs Box range offers four viewing configurations: Single-Sided (ideal for wall and media wall installations), Left Corner (wraps around left-facing corners), Right Corner (wraps around right-facing corners), and Three-Sided (peninsula style visible from three sides). Each configuration uses the same burner and casing technology — only the glass panel arrangement differs.
Is professional installation required?
While the Logs Box is designed as a ready-to-install solution, professional installation is strongly recommended. A qualified installer will ensure proper fitting within your wall opening, correct electrical connection (230V or 115V), compliance with room ventilation requirements, and safe fuel handling procedures.
What is the difference between the FLA4 and FLA4+ burners?
The FLA4+ is an extended-capacity version of the standard FLA4 burner. It features a significantly larger fuel tank (17.2L vs 5.5L on the 1000 series; 13.4L vs 4.3L on the 800 series) and delivers up to 3.4x longer burn time. Both burners produce identical heat output (6.9kW) and share the same 6-stage flame regulation, smart controls, and BEV Technology. Choose FLA4+ for commercial environments or when minimal refilling is preferred.
What fuel type should I use and where can I buy it?
Use only bioethanol fuel with 95-96.6% purity. Lower purity fuels may produce odors, residue, or inconsistent burning. We supply premium bioethanol fuel compatible with all Planika burners — contact us for current pricing and delivery options. Never substitute with other alcohol types or fuels.
What safety features are included?
The Logs Box includes multiple safety systems: zero-clearance firebox protection, automatic refilling system that prevents overfilling and spillage, child lock on the touch control panel, fuel level monitoring via panel and mobile app, shut-off timer for automatic shutdown, and BEV Technology that eliminates direct flame-to-fuel contact. The unit also carries CE certification and meets European safety standards.
